Community Climate Intervention Strategies 2021 Webinar Series: EcologicalImpacts & Climate Intervention Strategies

Sarah Weiskopf

Sarah Weiskopf is a biologist with the National Climate Adaptation Science Center. Her research focuses on the impacts of climate change onterrestrial wildlife. Sarah joined the USGS in 2016 as a PresidentialManagement Fellow, where she has served as a chapter lead on the Ecosystems,Biodiversity, and Ecosystems Services chapter of the Fourth National ClimateAssessment, and as a U.S. Delegate to the Intergovernmental Platform onBiodiversity and Ecosystem Services. During her fellowship, she also spentseveral months working on international biodiversity issues at the Departmentof State Office of Conservation and Water.

Phoebe Zarnetske

Phoebe Zarnetske is a community ecologist in the Department of Integrative Biology at Michigan State University, and initiated the Spatial Ecology Graduate Certificate Program. Her research connects observed patterns of biodiversity and community compositionwith underlying mechanisms, specifically how the composition and geographicdistribution of species and ecological communities are affected by biotic interactions, species invasions, biophysical feedbacks, geodiversity, climate change, landuse change, and geoengineering. A central goal of her research program is to understandwhich species and ecological communities are most sensitive and/or resilient toclimate change.

William Cheung William Cheung is a Professorat the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, UBC and the Director (Science)of the Nippon Foundation-UBC Nereus Program. His main research areas include understanding the responses andvulnerabilities of marine ecosystems and fisheries to global change, andexamining trade-offs in managing and conserving living marine resources. He wasa Lead Author in the IPCC Working Group II of the Fifth Assessment Report, anda Coordinating Lead Author of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversityand Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and Global Biodiversity Outlook.

Anton Seimon will serve as Moderator.
