Corporate Climate Leadership and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Journey

December 15, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Adaptation Co-Creation Series
The space where innovation and climate resilience meet

Corporate Climate Leadership and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Journey

Co-hosted by WSP USA and Microsoft

For over five years now, companies have been exploring and beginning to implement the recommendations outlined by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). The intention of these recommendations was to enhance the transparency, effectiveness, and decision-usefulness of public disclosures that could “promote more informed investment, credit, and insurance underwriting decisions” and, in turn, “would enable stakeholders to understand better the concentrations of carbon-related assets in the financial sector and the financial system’s exposures to climate-related risks.”

Recently, major investors like BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard have requested that the companies they invest in align with the TCFD recommendations and begin to disclose more decision-useful data, information, and progress towards reducing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, advancing their sustainability actions, managing climate-related risks and opportunities, and enhancing their overall adaptive capacity and resilience.

About the ASAP Adaptation Co-Creation Series
The space where innovation and climate resilience meet

In June 2020, ASAP launched the Adaptation Co-Creation Series, a yearlong webinar program highlighting how partnerships lead to innovative adaptation action across the United States. The ASAP Board of Directors is spearheading this new initiative, with leadership from Jennifer Jurado (Broward County, FL), Jessica Grannis (Audubon), and Emily Wasley (WSP). Each session of the Series showcases on-the-ground adaptation practice across a variety of sectors and regions. Through this program, we place the spotlight on the role of private sector service providers and the valuable partnerships they form with municipalities, states, tribes, and other entities to advance the adaptation field and promote innovation and excellence in practice.
