The second annual workshop on Creating Solutions for the Global Blue Economy will be held March 03-04, 2023!

North Carolina is ideally positioned to create a US mid-Atlantic sustainable blue economy, or bluetech innovation cluster, by tapping North Carolina’s diverse and broad ocean-connected resources. As the global population grows, humanity will continue to demand more from the ocean. However, the risks posed by sea-level rise have heightened awareness and concern about the long term sustainability of our oceans and our coastal communities that power the blue economy.

This workshop will bring together graduate and undergraduate students, stakeholders, industry experts, and academics to Carteret Community College and the Center for Marine Science and Technology (CMAST) in Morehead City, North Carolina to begin working on solutions to these challenges.

This two-day workshop will enable teams to compete for innovative solutions that address the problems identified in the workshop. A key outcome is for teams to continue developing their ideas. To that end both a pre- and a post-workshop meeting held at NC State’s Entrepreneurship Garage on Centennial Campus will facilitate team-building and foster collaborations.
