Area(s) of Expertise
Binder’s research focuses on the intersections between science, politics, and public opinion. Much of this work has been in the area of public understanding of science and public perceptions of risk, specifically about (1) where people get information about science and technology and (2) how that information affects their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. In the context of climate change, he is interested in finding new ways to bridge the communication divide between scientists and lay publics through empirical social science research.
