As an urban ecologist, my overall goals are to understand complex ecological responses to anthropogenic environmental changes and to inform urban habitat management that supports ecosystem services and minimizes disservices. In light of growing evidence for global losses of insects in general and pollinators in particular, this research emphasizes arthropods and plant-arthropod interactions. We aim to understand the direct effects of urban stressors–such as warming and air pollution–on the physiology of organisms, and trace the consequences through populations, communities, and ecosystem functions.
