Area(s) of Expertise

Global change in climate and land use are central to my research in watershed ecology. I examine how disturbances affect landscape ecosystem services, including clean water, carbon sequestration, and wildlife habitat and in turn, how forest management might mitigate or be adaptive. Much of my recent research is centered on how climate and land use change might affect water availability in the Southeast US and whether forests can be managed for drought mitigation. I also maintain an active program in research on fire management for fuels management, biodiversity, and carbon sequestration.
