Area(s) of Expertise
My environmental communication research includes analyses of public disputes over biodiversity losses and the recent controversy concerning the placement of a US Navy outlying landing field adjacent to the Pocosin National Wildlife reserve in eastern NC. My current research interest involves an analysis of the film “Chasing Ice.” The film, in my view, attempts to portray the documentation of melting glaciers due to global climate change as a kind of quest story. My research explores the rhetorical advantages and disadvantages of such narrative approaches to scientific communication.
