Area(s) of Expertise

My research focuses on belowground ecosystems and processes in natural and planted forests. Soil carbon is the largest terrestrial reservoir of carbon and therefore identifying and mitigating any shifts in the storage of this pool will be crucial when considering the predicted climate changes. Studies evaluating these changes are field based as well as greenhouse/phytotron based.
I also have an interest in eco-literacy of undergraduate students which includes their knowledge on issues as it relates to climate change. I have collected assessments of students in an entry level environmental science over several years.
