French Ameri-Can Climate Talk Comes to NC State

NC State, in partnership with the Office for Science & Technology in the Embassy of France, the SE Climate Science Center and the USDA Climate Hub, is pleased to host the French Ameri-Can Climate Talks (FACTS) Symposium in Raleigh, NC, that will focus on Climate-Smart Agriculture: Innovation and Resiliency. FACTS is a public conference series organized by the Embassies of France in both Canada and the United States to take place in seven cities in the United States and Canada involving renowned scientists, civil society representatives, NGOs, political figures, journalists and entrepreneurs.
This event will take place in tandem with the SE Climate Science Center and the Global Environmental Change and Human Well-being Cluster’s Global Change Symposium, which is scheduled for Friday August 28, 2015.

Objectives: Engage the NC State community and stakeholders in the Triangle and Southeast region of the United States to enhance public awareness of the interconnectedness of climate and agriculture to advance greater understanding of economic, environmental and societal impacts as well as opportunities for innovation, adaptation and solution-driven approaches.  The program will include brief talks by experts in the field and a moderated panel discussion with participants from NC State, the private sector, government agencies and scientists and economists from France.
Who should attend? General public; faculty, staff and students at NC State; scientists, extension faculty and educators; policy-makers and individuals from business, private sector, government and non-profit organizations.
The FACTS Symposium is co-sponsored by the Office for Science & Technology in the French Embassy and jointly organized by the Office of International Affairs with a planning group from the Southeast Climate Science Center, NC Climate Office, Southeast Regional Climate Hub, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Sciences and College of Natural Resources.
