SECSC Project PI Accepts Award on Behalf of National Wildlife Federation
On June 7th, 2016, seven individual entities were honored with the Climate Adaptation Leadership Award for Natural Resources from the National Fish, Wildlife and Plant Climate Adaptation Strategy (NFWPCAS) Joint Implementation Working Group. This award recognizes exemplary efforts by federal, state, tribal, local, and non-governmental entities to help safeguard America’s living natural resources from climate change.
Dr. Bruce Stein, who serves as a Co-Principal Investigator on the SECSC-funded project Conservation Adaptation Planning for Landscape and Climate Change in the Southeast, accepted the award on behalf of the National Wildlife Federation, the non-governmental agency recipient. The NWF and the six other honorees are the inaugural class of recipients of this award, created as part of the Obama Administration’s Priority Agenda for Enhancing the Climate Resilience of America’s Natural Resources, and were chosen from a pool of 47 nominees. The Department of the Interior’s Climate Science Center (including the SECSC) were also honored at the event, receiving the honorable mention in the “Federal Agency” category.
