En-ROADS Climate Simulator – How Well Will Our Climate Solutions Work?

March 17, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

NC Citizens’ Climate Lobby chapters invite you to to explore, in real time, the system-wide global solutions to climate change & inequity.

About this Event

You are invited to a highly interactive “En-ROADS Climate Simulator Workshop” with Drew Jones the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Climate Interactive. The virtual workshop will be held on March 17, 2021 from 7 – 8 PM Eastern. The program is free, but registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent to you after registration.

En-ROADS, created with MIT Sloan, allows you to explore, in real time, the system-wide global solutions to climate change and inequity, including renewable energy, oil policy, carbon removal, energy efficiency, electric cars, carbon pricing and other policies.

The user-friendly simulator has been used in settings ranging from the US Congress to the U.N. Secretary-General’s climate team to HSBC bank. Spanning the globe, it has been led by 676 facilitators in 69 countries.

Drew lives in Asheville, NC and is the Kenan-Flagler Clinical Professor at UNC-Chapel Hill. He recently ran a similar workshop with top Biden administration climate leaders. John Kerry, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, is expected to travel with Jones to China to launch En-ROADS there. Kerry said that, “En-ROADS is quite simply a climate crisis game-changer for policymakers and people across the country. Everyone is hearing more and more about the science, but sometimes it takes a demonstration tool like En-ROADS for people to see first-hand that every one of us needs to be on a war footing and mobilize to fight this crisis head-on….En-ROADS is the ultimate conversation starter.”

Drew co-accepted the System Dynamics Society’s award for the best real-world application of modeling. He won Dartmouth College’s Ray W. Smith award for the most significant contribution to the status of the College. We are thrilled that a North Carolinian is having such an outsized impact on promoting climate solutions!

We hope you can join us!
