Summary: The Global Change Fellows of the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center have congregated a multi-disciplinary panel to discuss Environmental Justice (EJ) in North Carolina. Environmental Justice is not unique to North Carolina, but as the birthplace of the EJ movement, North Carolina has an expansive history of communities of color and low-income bearing a disproportionate burden of environmental pollution. With the pandemic and rollback of many environmental regulations over the last year, these burdens have become increasingly prevalent in society. In this seminar, our panel will briefly address the evolution of EJ in North Carolina, where it stands now, and how it might change in the future in response to climate change and changing administrations.
