National Climate Resilience Framework: Perspectives from Key Partners

March 25 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us for the first webinar in the National Climate Resilience Framework: From Ideas to Action series, presented by the Resilience Roadmap project.

In September 2023 the US government released its first-ever National Climate Resilience Framework. The document establishes a vision for a climate-resilient nation and guidance for resilience-related activities and investments by the federal government and its partners. The framework focuses on six objectives:

  • embedding resilience into planning and management,
  • increasing resilience of the built environment,
  • mobilizing capital and investments for resilience,
  • equipping communities with the information and resources they need to assess climate risks and develop resilience solutions,
  • protecting and managing lands and waters to enhance resilience, and
  • helping communities become resilient, safe, healthy, equitable, and economically strong.

While establishing these pillars is an important first step, much still needs to be done to identify priorities within each and determine how to coordinate implementation from the federal government all the way down to local communities. In this webinar, hear a variety of perspectives including from authors of the framework, state officials, and other critical implementation partners.

This session is hosted by the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability at Duke University. Stay informed about upcoming sessions by subscribing to the Nicholas Institute’s email list.
