About
I have been deeply passionate about the environment for as long as I can remember. Growing up our summers were often spent in national parks or another type of outdoor space. Academically I have always focused on the relationship between humans and the environment. I worked with the National Park Service studying visitor use and visitation patterns in parks across the country. Learning more about the inequities that some communities face and the lack of access that individuals have to outdoor spaces has led me to NCSU. Here I plan to study these places more and be a part of research that leads to more equitable green spaces. As a Global Change Research Fellow I am excited to work in an interdisciplinary space and further work being done to create a more sustainable future for all.
Research Interests
My research lies at the intersection of environmental and social sciences; more specifically, the way people move and interact with parks and protected areas. Using geospatial sciences as a tool to visualize and analyze, I am interested in learning more about how green spaces impact communities. In addition to understanding how green spaces affect human communities, I desire to explore the relationship urban green spaces have with climate and their ecosystem services. I strongly believe that everybody deserves access to green space and desire to be part of research that discovers equitable and sustainable ways to create, program, and design them.
