Let’s Talk About It: Climate Change and Coastal Impacts Workshop for Media Professionals

The SE Climate Science Center along with NC Coastal Federation, Climate Central, and Climate Communication conducted a workshop in Beaufort, NC on October 9-10, 2015. Through fieldtrips, presentations, and interactive sessions, the workshop’s goals were to help media professionals become more knowledgeable about the state of the science on climate, be able to localize the impacts of climate change, and be able to glean story leads, B-roll and other resources for communicating about climate change. Presenters included Peter Peterson, Distinguished Professor, UNC  Institute of Marine Affairs; Susan Hassol of Climate Communication; Tom Peterson, President, World Meteorological Organization’s Commission for Climatology; Michael Mann, Distinguished Professor, Director, Earth Systems Science Center, Penn State University; and Greg Fishel, Chief Meterologist, WRAL.
