Global Change Fellows Win Awards at CNR Graduate Research Symposium

Spring 2018 Global Change Fellow Danielle Lawson, PhD student in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, took the 2nd place award in the Three Minute Thesis competition held as part of the NC State College of Natural Resources Graduate Research Symposium on February 2, 2018. The competition guidelines allowed students three minutes to present a compelling description of their thesis topic and its significance, using a single supporting slide. Danielle’s presentation, “Evaluating Intergenerational Transfer as an Effective Climate Communication Tool,” was judged by faculty from all departments in the college. The award came with monetary support for travel to a research conference for Danielle and her faculty advisor, Kathryn Stevenson.

2015-16 Global Change Fellow Georgina Sanchez, PhD student in Department of Forestry of Environmental Resources, was the recipient of 3rd place award in the poster competition at the symposium for her poster, “Forecasting Urbanization and Future Water Demands of a Rapidly Growing Megaregion.” Posters were judged by all participants at the symposium. Travel grant funding for Georgina and her faculty advisor, Ross Meentemeyer, accompanied the poster award.
