Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC): An Overview

The new BRIC program will replace FEMA’s current Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program in 2020. BRIC, which is funded as a result of the Disaster Reform and Recovery Act (DRRA) of 2018, is designed support state and local governments, tribes, and territories through helping communities build capability and capacity so that they develop community mitigation projects to increase resilience. BRIC is designed to encourage and enable innovation while allowing flexibility and consistency, promote partnerships and enable high-impact investments to reduce risk from natural hazards with a focus on critical services, public infrastructure, and community resilience.
This presentation will provide:1. An overview of the BRIC Program2. Stakeholder Analysis and Sentiment about the BRIC Program3. Examples of innovative projects4. Tools and resources for grant applicants
Presenter: Camille Crain is the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Section Chief at FEMA Headquarters. In this role it is her responsibility to design and administer FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance’s newest grant program, BRIC.Audience: This session is geared toward hazard mitigation grant applicant, sub-applicants such as State Hazard Mitigation Officers, tribal leaders, community leaders, as well as, individuals and other groups interested in learning more about the BRIC Program.
