Climate Projections as a Way to Illustrate Future Possibilities

July 25, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Climate projections, originally designed for research on the atmosphere, also illustrate how the future climate could unfold. There are multiple components to climate projections, and small details in the climate projections can change the way that future climate conditions are understood in interesting ways, presenting unique challenges for adaptation planning and impact assessments.
Precipitation and water are among the greatest concerns with respect to ecosystems, agriculture, and water supply management in the south-central United States. South Central CASC researcher Adrienne Wootten will walk through how details in the climate projections can affect our understanding of future precipitation, and why all this is important for impact assessments and climate adaptation planning.
