August 27, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
NRCS Conservation Outcomes Webinar Series
This monthly webinar series highlights recent outcomes, emerging opportunities, and conservation tools and data developed to assist with conservation planning and impact and efficiency assessment. The series illustrates the scope of Farm Bill conservation efforts on privately owned croplands, forests, and rangelands; documents the conservation achievements and outcomes of those efforts; and shows the utility of science-based outcomes for helping inform future conservation delivery.
Conservation Outcomes of NRCS’s Working Lands for Wildlife in Eastern Forests.
Working Lands for Wildlife (WLFW) is an NRCS strategy that targets Farm Bill programs to maximize beneficial outcomes for people and wildlife. The NRCS Outcomes Team supports diverse conservation effects assessments and the development of scientific targeting tools and strategies to inform effective delivery of WLFW. Win-win solutions improve agricultural productivity while enhancing wildlife habitat. WLFW Farm Bill conservation program outputs in eastern forested landscapes are generating natural resource outcomes benefiting producers, wildlife, and society. This webinar will highlight NRCS’s work with landowners and partners to improve forest health in Eastern deciduous and longleaf pine forests and how this work benefits target species such as golden-winged warblers and gopher tortoise, as well as associated wildlife species. Outcomes for improving the health, productivity, and sustainability of eastern forests will also be presented.
