International Symposium on Conservation Impact

September 16, 2020 @ 9:00 am - September 17, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

The Salazar Center is pleased to announce its second annual International Symposium on Conservation Impact! This year, the event will highlight best-in-class examples in North American cities of enhancing natural systems to improve community health and support climate resilience. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings, the symposium will be held virtually to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

The 2020 Symposium will serve as a continuation and extension of the Center’s 2019 symposium, shifting the focus to the role of connectivity, equity, and green space in healthy cities.

  • September 16, 2020: Connectivity Challenge Prize Finalist Pitch Event: hear live pitches from finalists for the international Connectivity Challenge, the Salazar Center’s inaugural conservation impact prize! The winner will be awarded $100,000 to pursue a project that promises to have significant impact at-scale with positive ripple effects for North American conservation research, policy, and practice.
  • September 17, 2020: Symposium on Conservation Impact: Join us as we highlight efforts in the US, Canada, and Mexico to explore best practices on how to improve habitat and human connectivity in and through cities, and understand the impact of healthy natural systems on human health, well-being, and climate resilience.

A limited number of spots will be also available for our workshop on Working and Communicating Effectively in Rural Communities, hosted in partnership with the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Wilburforce Foundation.

To learn more about the symposium, including opportunities to support the event, please contact Catie Boehmer at catie.boehmer@colostate.edu.
