Please find below information about a recently launched NOAA Climate Program Office FY 2021 Notice of Funding Opportunitywhich includes a competition on Advancing Climate Adaptation and Coastal Community Resilience, which may be of interest to you and your colleagues.

With this funding competition, the NOAA Climate Program Office’s Climate and Societal Interactions Division (NOAA/CPO/CSI) is launching a new Adaptation Sciences (AdSci) Program.

The AdSci Program will design and implement research investments through competitions, co-develop activities with partners, and support communities of practice around adaptation pathways. It will build on and maintain strong connections established by its highly successful predecessors –  the Coastal and Ocean Climate Applications (COCA) Program, the International Research and Applications Project (IRAP), and the Sectoral Applications and Research Program (SARP).

Inspired by the results of investments made through SARP, IRAP and COCA projects, as well as through NOAA’s Regional Integration and Assessments (RISA) Program, the AdSci program is designed to develop applicable knowledge and insight about the conditions and approaches that shape society’s efforts to adapt through the use of climate information, and build resilience against a backdrop of a changing climate.  The AdSci investment is intended to expand CSI’s ability to advance adaptation research in the direction of implementation and decision making needs more broadly, and will continue to support NOAA’s science, services, and stewardship missions.

Please feel free to reach out with questions about the FY 2021 competition or the AdSci Program; you can contact me, or my colleagues, Nancy Beller-Simms (Nancy.Beller-Simms@noaa.gov) or Lisa Vaughan (Lisa.Vaughan@noaa.gov) at any time.

Please refer to the upcoming events section of the NOAA/CPO website for information regarding a FY21 AdSci competition information session, and finally, please feel free to share this information with your colleagues.
