About the Speaker: Andy Davis is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Odum School of Ecology. He is an animal ecologist with an emphasis on all things physiological. He also has interests in functional morphology and animal migration. Being originally from Canada, he has a BSc and MSc from a university in Nova Scotia that you’ve never heard of! He also has a PhD from the University of Georgia, home of the 2-time football national champions!

Over the years, Andy has studies songbird migrations, stress in amphibians, monarch butterfly wing color, and now, the biology of the infamous joro spider in the southeast.

Andy’s presentation will cover the known information regarding the joro spider’s introduction to the United States, including what is known about its effects to native fauna, and, some of the latest research from Andy’s lab.
