The Sustainability Scorecard
December 1, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Sustainability Scorecard
From 2011-2016, the US Forest Service (USFS) implemented the Climate Change Performance Scorecard. In 2020, the USFS is addressing climate change resiliency with the new Sustainability Scorecard as the next phase of their climate journey. The first phase focused on improving organizational capacity in the USFS response to climate change. The new Sustainability Scorecard moves from climate ready to climate actionable. This framework addresses risks from increasing temperatures and changing precipitation patterns to ensure productive and healthy forests and grasslands into the future. The Sustainability Scorecard’s core elements are:
- Vulnerability
- Adaptation
- Monitoring
- Carbon Stewardship
- Sustainable Operations
- Watershed Stewardship
Shared Stewardship with State Partners The USFS is partnering with states through Shared Stewardship agreements and is collaborating with private sector partners through conservation financing activities. There is a critical need to work in partnership with state and local governments and private partners to conserve the Nation’s natural resources for the public. This webinar will highlight these activities and dive into discussion on future opportunities to work together.
