Statement of purpose:

I am passionate about contributing to climate change research by focusing on characterizing its consequences and advancing viable adaptation strategies. Growing up in a city with a summer climate of around 80 degrees and moderate humidity, I experienced a stark contrast when I moved to a city with scorching heat, monsoon rains, and humidity as high as 100%. Frequent travel between countries has heightened my awareness of distinct temperature trends and how climate influences daily life and well-being. These experiences have underscored for me how climate change uniquely impacts different parts of the world, leading to my current research interest.

I hope to better understand climate change consequences, particularly phenology, to promote practices that can help communities adapt to its impacts.

Description of research:

My research interest centers on understanding how water variability affects terrestrial carbon cycling processes and seasonal patterns. I am currently investigating the timing of the end of the growing season (EOS), a major regulator of seasonal growth cycles, and the ability of vegetation to absorb carbon. I am particularly interested in understanding the mechanisms behind changes in EOS induced by water variability, and how rapid shifts between drought and flood conditions can affect plant community composition and phenology.
