Overview
Noticing changes in ecosystems requires observing both living and non-living components over time. Many groups make these observations, and they help to understand global change processes. But, the data are often not easy to find by other scientists and managers.
This project pulls all of these data into a central location by enhancing a pilot web-based portal. The Global Change Monitoring Portal (GCMP) allows users to search for many types of environmental data. The portal’s focus is on data related to global change and its potential effects on land, water, and wildlife in the Southeast US.
We included data from federal, state, tribal, local, and non-governmental organizations. Users are also a broad group and include land managers, scientists, Tribal leaders, policy makers, and citizens. The GCMP increases access to important data collection by a broad range of organizations.
