SE Climate Science Center Appoints New University Director
The SE Climate Science Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ryan Boyles as the center’s new university director. He is also the State Climatologist and Extension Associate Professor in the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Ryan has been serving as Deputy Director of the SE CSC since 2011. He has worked closely with the graduate fellowship program and has advised and guided the center with great dedication over the past few years.
Ryan is an applied climatologist interested in how the physical climate system impacts and interacts with other natural and human systems. He tends to look at more localized spatial scales focused on North Carolina and the southeastern United States. His research focuses on climate modeling, sensitivities of climate to other sectors, climate monitoring and observation systems, and development of sector-specific climate education and decision support tools.
