Coffee & Viz: Do You See What I See? Iterative Data Visualization for Research and Teaching

How is digestion like a subway? When is doodling during class a great thing? In this presentation, Dr. Erin McKenney will share specific examples of the iterative data visualization process from her own research and in the classroom. McKenney uses data visualization as a pathway of discovery and communication both in her own research on microbiomes, and in her course design to support student learning. Her students have described data visualization not only as enlightening, but also empowering.

*Complimentary coffee, tea and light refreshments from local business Anisette http://www.sweetanisette.com/ will be available beginning at 9:15 a.m. in an adjacent space. To help increase the sustainability of this program, please bring your own coffee mug.
