Collaborating with Interpreters to Communicate Science in National Parks

Ecologists have many needs, and opportunities, to engage public audiences in learning about their research. The 419 U.S. national parks are ideal places to do so. Parks host a wide range of research, welcome over 300 million visitors per year, and are staffed with interpretive rangers who are expert at communicating about these special places. This webinar highlights examples from 3 national parks of ecologists and interpreters who collaborate to communicate research to visitors. The speakers will share their experiences and advice that can be adopted by other scientists working in tandem with professional interpreters in other settings.

The session will be moderated by Tim Watkins, Science Access & Engagement Coordinator for the National Park Service. Tim promotes the collaborative use of national parks for research and science communication.
