Successfully Bridging the Gap: Eastern US Models of Fire Science and Management Collaboration

February 15 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Fueling Collaboration Panel Discussion Series

Land management programs are frequently confronted with the imperative of incorporating the most advanced scientific knowledge into their decision-making processes along with filling voids in research needed to move along effective management. Nevertheless, the persistent disparities between the realms of science and management often impede effective collaboration. In this panel, we will draw inspiration from successful case studies in the eastern United States, where land managers and scientists have forged pioneering partnerships, yielding tangible advancements in the field.

Register here.

Fueling Collaboration strives to build connections between land managers and researchers through a series of interactive virtual panel discussions.

Wildland fire management is complex and ever-changing. As the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in 2020, our planning team members recognized a need to continue to connect people throughout the region and across disciplines, organizations, and specializations. Fueling Collaboration is a forum designed to support those networks and to bring people together to discuss, explore, and address the latest fire science and fire management issues across the eastern United States.

Strong networks involving land managers, researchers, and fire professionals can increase the application of the best available science on the ground while ensuring critical science needs are recognized and addressed. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to meet these needs by hosting nuanced conversations on the cutting edge of fire management and science.
