My research interests are diverse, reflecting to some extent my fascination for the diversity and complexity of tropical ecosystems and landscapes, including the processes that modify them. I have established a research program in Large-scale Ecology and Macro-ecology that often addresses questions spanning multiple disciplines, and requires the combination of field work, analytical techniques, quantitative methods, geographical information systems and remote sensing to understand the origin of this complexity, as well as its consequences on the diversity and functioning of tropical ecosystems.
